Summary of Functions Supervises administrative issues pertaining to Kalispel Tribal Police Department in the absence of Police Sergeant.
Supervise Police Patrolmen during assigned shift.
Assigning Patrol Shift Schedules.
Will be responsible for Training Records for the Kalispel Tribal Police Department.
Directs supervision and scheduling for the Kalispel Tribal Police Reserve Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in the Administration and clarifies policies and procedures set forth by the Kalispel Tribal Police Department, Responsible for assisting the Police Sergeants in writing, implementing and updating policies and procedures to meet the continuing changes for Kalispel Tribe enterprises and the safety and security of Tribal community members and assets.
Responsible for reporting to the Police Sergeants for noncompliance of company or department policies.
Manages and accounts for controlled supplies issued to the Department as directed.
Writes and delivers patrol evaluations, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner as directed Attends department and team meetings to ensure effective communication.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate training for all officers.
Keep accurate record of training for each individual officers and members of the department.

Guides Tribal business operation during emergencies up to and including evacuations.
Makes recommendation for any of the previous.
Assists Directors and sergeants with special investigations and/or technical reports.
Completes special projects.
Ensure control/protection of company assets.
Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary.
Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
May be required to be a panelist for the internal review hearings and testimony in Tribal, State and Federal Courts.
Ensures the highest possible standards of guest satisfaction and officer relations are maintained and carried out in a fair and equitable manner conducive to that goal.

Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises 5 to 10 Members of the Kalispel Tribal Police Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, training and scheduling patrol officers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and corrective actions of officers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
In the event the police sergeant is absent or not available, the police corporal may represent second level management duties.
Education Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related field or equivalent from Two-year College or technical school preferred.
Experience Five year specialized experience and/or training in law enforcement; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of two years supervisory experience in military or 5 years of civilian law enforcement experience with a Tribal, State or Federal Agency.
Knowledge of RCW and Criminal Jurisdiction in Indian Country Physical Demands Requires the ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Constantly requires verbally expressing or exchanging ideas of important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.

Travel Requirements Local travel is occasionally required.
Travel outside of the state may be required for training or investigative purposes.

Experience Required Must pass a written exam that is designated for the Police Corporal to meet Tribal, State and Federal requirements.
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Programs and other computer software.
Ability to analyze and solve complex management problems having non-standard solutions.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with public officials, department heads, associates and the public.
Skill in effectively, communicating information through verbal and written correspondence to patrolman managers, clients, customers, and the general public, including writing reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
Skills in assessing operation, program, staffing and fiscal needs.
Possess a certification of completion of an accredited State or Federal Law Enforcement Academy.
Have the ability to obtain certification from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and State of Washington.
Criminal Justice Training Programs.
Attended Police First Line Supervision or other management training within 6 months of promotion or appointment.
Valid First Aid and CPR Certification or able to obtain within 6 months.
Must successfully pass a written exam designated for Police Corporal Position that meets State and/or Federal requirement.
Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
